FAQ’s

Consider your smoking experience and flavor preference (mild, medium, full-bodied or flavored), then ask one of 3D’s tobacconists for recommendations based on your taste.

The primary cigar-producing countries are: Cuba, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil and Costa Rica.

A cigar consists of three parts: the wrapper (outer leaf), which contributes the greatest amount of flavor to the cigar; the binder (which holds the filler together); and the filler (the inner tobacco blend).

Using a sharp cigar cutter (guillotine, V-cut, or punch), remove the cap at the head of the cigar, cutting just above the shoulder to avoid unraveling. Aim for a clean, quick cut.

Using a butane torch lighter, wooden match or lighted cedar strip, evenly toast the foot of the cigar until it glows, then gently puff while rotating to ensure an even burn.

Cigars should be stored in a humidor at 65-70% relative humidity and 65-72°F to maintain flavor and prevent drying out or mold growth.

Properly humidified and temperature controlled, cigars can last years or even decades in a humidor, often improving with age if stored correctly.

Hand-rolled cigars are crafted by skilled rollers, offering better construction and flavor complexity, while machine-made cigars are mass-produced, often with lower-quality tobacco.

Uneven burns can result from improper lighting, poor construction, or inconsistent humidity. Rotating the cigar while smoking will often help with this issue.

There are many tobacco wrappers (e.g., Connecticut, Maduro, Habano) which all vary in flavor and color due to location grown, tobacco type, curing, and fermentation. Connecticut is mild and light; Maduro is dark and rich.

You can, by gently clearing any ash and relighting evenly. The flavor may change slightly if the cigar has been out for a while.

Smoking time depends on size and the individual. A Robusto (5 inches) may take about 45-60 minutes, while a Churchill (7 inches) may take 1.5-2 hours. Some cigar smokers have a tendency to smoke rapidly while others will sit and enjoy the cigar.

Whiskeys, rum, coffee, or red wine can all complement the cigar’s flavors without overpowering them. Match intensity (e.g., full-bodied cigar with bold whiskey).
