The 3D’s Story

In October of 2014, Cousins Dave Ryder and Doug Hatton are attending a family members wedding. While smoking cigars outside in the cold they talk about “wouldn’t it be nice to have a place to smoke indoors” a friend happened to hear their conversation and informed them that the local Cigar Shop, Cigars Ltd. was for sell. Making a deal with the owner Dave, Doug and friend Dean Hopkins (The 3 D’s) along with Doug’s daughter Jennifer and Dean’s daughter Deanna purchase Cigars Ltd. and rename it 3D’s Cigars. The shop opened as 3D’s Cigars on March 1, 2015. Dean retired and moved in 2017 and in 2023 when the Colorado Springs location opened, Doug’s son Chris, who had been running the Pueblo store, joins as an owner. So, today Dave, Chris, Jenny and Doug are the owners of 3D’s Cigars.

The goal from the beginning was to create the kind of place that “we would want to go and smoke.” We think we’ve done just that.

Dave “Coach” Ryder

Dave is a retired high-school teacher/basketball coach. He’s a lifelong cigar smoker who can be found at the Pueblo shop talking golf, fly fishing and sports in general.

Chris Hatton

Chris grew up around cigars and began working at the Pueblo store when he was 19. In 2023 he became an owner and manager of the Colorado Springs location. Chris loves baseball and is a huge Yankee’s fan.

Jennifer Hurd

Jenny is an accountant by day and does the accounting for 3D’s in her spare time. She’s married to Braden and has 2 golden retrievers Tucker & Yogi.

Doug Hatton

A lifelong cigar smoker and retired toilet paper sales man, Doug can be found bouncing back and forth between stores, helping out whever he is needed.

Doug is married to Barb and enjoys gardening and woodworking along with helping out at 3D’s.
